For livestock raisers hoping to improve their herds and increase farm productivity, a free online learning opportunity is set to provide valuable insights into one of the most advanced breeding technologies used in cattle production today.

The Department of Agriculture will hold a free Research for Development (R4D) webinar titled “From Elite Cows to More Calves: Understanding Multiple Ovulation and Embryo Transfer (MOET)” on June 16, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. The online event aims to help farmers, livestock enthusiasts, researchers, students, and agricultural stakeholders better understand modern cattle breeding techniques that can improve the quality and productivity of local herds.

MOET, or Multiple Ovulation and Embryo Transfer, is a reproductive technology that allows superior genetic traits from elite cattle to be passed on more quickly to future generations. Through this method, high-quality donor cows can produce multiple embryos, which are then transferred to recipient animals. The technology is widely recognized for helping livestock industries improve breeding efficiency and accelerate genetic improvement.

Experts say that advanced breeding methods such as MOET can play a key role in strengthening the country's livestock sector. By producing healthier and more productive animals, farmers may benefit from improved income opportunities while helping meet the growing demand for meat and dairy products.

The webinar forms part of the government's continuing efforts to share research-based knowledge and innovations with farmers and agricultural stakeholders. Through digital learning platforms, more producers can access information that was once available only through specialized training programs and research institutions.

Participants are encouraged to register before the webinar and complete the required pre-webinar evaluation survey. Organizers said attendees who complete both the pre- and post-webinar evaluation forms will receive electronic certificates of participation.

The event also highlights the importance of research and technology transfer in modern agriculture. As the country works to improve food security and strengthen agricultural competitiveness, knowledge-sharing activities such as webinars help bridge the gap between scientific research and practical farm applications.

Organizers are encouraging participants to install the Zoom application ahead of the event and actively engage in discussions during the webinar. A confirmation email will be sent to successful registrants as proof of registration.

As agriculture continues to evolve, technologies like MOET offer promising opportunities for livestock development. Through education and innovation, Filipino farmers can gain access to tools and knowledge that may help build a more productive and sustainable livestock industry for the future.
