Top Young Taekwondo Athletes Gather in San Pablo City for Batang Pinoy Fundraiser Tournament

SAN PABLO CITY, LAGUNA — Over 1,000 young martial artists from across the province will gather at the San Pablo City Convention Center on August 2, 2026, for the highly anticipated Laguna Age Group Taekwondo Tournament.

The premier sports event is organized by the Laguna Taekwondo Management Committee, in partnership with the Athletics Federation of the Philippines Inc. (AFPI) and the partner-host City of San Pablo. The tournament will feature fierce competitions across various age groups and weight categories, showcasing the region's grassroots taekwondo talent.

More than just a display of athletic excellence, the event serves a vital community purpose. All tournament proceeds will directly form part of the Batang Pinoy delegation fund. This fund is dedicated to financing the San Pablo City delegation for the upcoming Batang Pinoy National Championships, scheduled to take place in Bacolod City this December 2026. Admission tickets for the fundraising event are priced at Php 200 each, offering residents an affordable way to support local youth sports.

By virtue of a Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) Resolution, AFPI serves as San Pablo City’s authorized managing body for the Batang Pinoy Program and acts as the city's key partner and supporter for grassroots sports development.

"This tournament is a testament to our commitment to grassroots sports development," said Rolito B. Gavino, AFPI - San Pablo City Chapter President. "By supporting our young taekwondo athletes this weekend, the community is directly fueling the dreams of San Pablo's delegation as they prepare to compete on the national stage in Bacolod."

The event stands as one of AFPI’s key fundraising initiatives this year. It aims, with the active support of stakeholders, community leaders, and sports benefactors, to ensure that local qualifiers have the necessary resources, equipment, and travel support to represent San Pablo City proudly at the prestigious National Youth Championship. Supporting this advocacy as the official media partner and advocacy supporter is Laguna Patrol, helping bring wider community awareness to the grassroots sports program.

The tournament kicks off at 8:00 AM tomorrow. Sports fans, families, and youth sports advocates are invited to witness the action and support the next generation of Filipino champions.
