Farmers, dairy cooperatives, and business leaders gathered in one room to discuss the future of the Philippine dairy industry, sharing concerns and ideas aimed at improving local milk production and strengthening support for dairy communities across the country.

The National Dairy Authority held “MooMents: Kwentuhang Dairy” on May 26, 2026, at its Central Office, bringing together representatives from multinational companies, the private sector, dairy cooperatives, and other industry stakeholders.

The open dialogue was led by Marcus Antonius T. Andaya as part of the agency’s efforts to improve communication and cooperation within the dairy sector.

According to the NDA, the event aimed to provide a platform where stakeholders could freely raise suggestions, share experiences, and discuss challenges affecting the dairy industry. Officials said open conversations are important in identifying practical solutions that can help improve both regulatory and development programs of the agency.

Participants discussed issues related to milk production, supply chain concerns, market access, industry regulations, and support programs for local dairy farmers and cooperatives. The dialogue also highlighted the need to strengthen partnerships between government and private institutions to help the industry grow.

The Philippines continues to rely heavily on imported dairy products to meet local demand. Government data has shown that locally produced milk supplies only a small percentage of the country’s total dairy requirement. Because of this, agencies such as the NDA have been working to increase local milk production and improve the productivity of Filipino dairy farmers.

Industry stakeholders emphasized the importance of providing better access to technology, financing, training, and modern farming practices to help local dairy producers compete in the market. Cooperative leaders also shared the experiences of small dairy farmers who continue to face rising production costs and climate-related challenges.

The NDA said discussions like “MooMents: Kwentuhang Dairy” can help strengthen trust and cooperation between the government and the private sector. Officials added that listening directly to stakeholders allows the agency to better understand the needs of the industry and improve future programs.

Administrator Andaya reiterated the agency’s commitment to supporting a more progressive and sustainable dairy sector. He said collaboration among stakeholders is necessary to improve local production, support rural livelihoods, and contribute to the country’s food security goals.

The dairy industry plays an important role in nutrition and agriculture, particularly in rural communities where dairy farming provides income opportunities for families and cooperatives. Strengthening local dairy production is also seen as a way to reduce dependence on imported products and create more jobs in the agriculture sector.

As discussions continue between the government and industry groups, the NDA hopes to build stronger partnerships that will help modernize the Philippine dairy industry and create long-term opportunities for Filipino dairy farmers.
